Although the current COVID-19 situation has made us stay home, it doesn’t mean we cannot travel at all… As a matter of fact, you can take the lockdown as an opportunity to learn about some of the most-visited places in the UK. Thanks to the digital world, you can have virtual sneak peaks of some attractions, before visiting in person when you can! With my #TravelFromHome mini series, where I previously covered virtual tours in London, let me take you to England today! Stonehenge Stonehenge is one of the most famous of the 400+ historic sites English Heritage owns, which is also a top day trip destination from London. Though you can’t visit Stonehenge now due to COVID-19, English Heritage provides a few ways to virtually explore it: 360-degree View of Stonehenge Video This 3-minute YouTube video guides you through the inside and the outside Stonehenge in detail. Since it…

Every tourist attraction in the UK has now been closed for over a month due to COVID-19. With the ongoing travel restrictions, many of us miss the time when we could explore cities and villages around the country. While some people are posting throwback holiday photos online, the UK’s major attractions are sharing how to visit them through virtual tours for everyone staying at home. Also being (quite happily) stuck in Wales, I’d like to post a mini-series of virtual tours in the UK! Let’s start with the famous destinations in London. Buckingham Palace One of the first virtual tours to try is Buckingham Palace (click here). Explore the official London residence of Queen Elizabeth II, by looking around the Grand Staircase, the White Drawing Room and the Throne Room. When you click each image, you can zoom in for details without losing high-quality resolution. This virtual tour doesn’t feel…

Recently, my YouTube feed started to recommend a lot of videos of people trying making so-called ‘dalgona coffee’ (๋‹ฌ๊ณ ๋‚˜ ์ปคํ”ผ). And writing this post, I just had a cup of homemade dalgona coffee for the third time. How on earth has it become a thing in South Korea now and how did I end up trying it too? Well… we think, it’s all because of the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) issue… Appearance of Dalgona Coffee People are advised to follow social distancing, and self-isolate if necessary, to reduce the risk of contracting & spreading the new SARS-like virus. This means those who stick to the measures have become desperate to entertain themselves while they are home and ended up binge-watching TV and YouTube videos. And surely, one must have encountered this video from the KBS Entertain channel <์‹ ์ƒ์ถœ์‹œ ํŽธ์Šคํ† ๋ž‘/Stars Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant>: Here, Korean actor Jeong Il-woo tries a glass…

Last December I got a very special birthday gift: a visit to a hospital for wild hedgehogs near Cambridge! This hedgehog hospital was located in Shepreth. It’s literally where wounded wild hedgehogs come and stay for medical treatments. For this particular charity, most hedgehog patients are from Cambridgeshire, brought by residents finding them in their gardens or on roads. Like me, many people might not have come across the idea of a hospital just for wild hedgehogs. Thanks to my boyfriend Josh and his friend Stephanie, I had this wonderful chance to have a visit and hear all about their work! Stephanie, who used to volunteer here as a photographer, helped Josh contact the staff and arrange our visit. It was the perfect gift since I was eager to learn and do something for animals that need our protection. After breakfast, we travelled to Shepreth via Cambridge. Lots of trains…

Despite tons of exciting things to do in London, this megacity isn’t all the UK has to offer. I strongly recommend you to spare some time to have a day trip from London to indulge in history, culture, nature, and countryside scenery. Continue to have a read on my list of recommended day trips from London! The following day trip destinations are in alphabetical order and include travel time from London, major attractions, and for whom they are suitable: Bath Bath is full of history and culture where you can find traces of various historical time periods, including the Roman, Medieval, and Georgian periods. How Bath has got its name as ‘Bath’ is in the Roman Baths. During the Medieval period, it was the centre of the wool industry, while it welcomed many holidaymakers as a spa city in the 18th century. Travel time to Bath from London: 1.5~2 hours…

If you’re looking forward to trying Korean foods during your visit to South Korea, you must’ve heard about Korean fried chicken. Even though the origin of fried chicken is not Korea, we have taken it so well; there are 409 fried chicken brands with around 87,000 restaurants across the country, according to the recent report! For differentiation, they try hard to make new flavours and sauces, meaning you have so many options. I like Korean fried chicken too. But I’m trying to have it less often because of the values I want to live by: animal welfare. As much as I wanted to introduce Korean fried chicken, of which the taste is guaranteed, to my foreign friends, I also struggled to find somewhere that showed animal welfare… Until I encountered Rocket Crispy Chicken! For those who’d like to support restaurants that care about animal welfare while would love to try…
